Conditions can change in seconds, so making informed choices about travel is important. After all, your choice affects others like our first responders and our operations teams who are trying to keep our community safe.
The Ontario Provincial Police – West Region is requesting that you avoid travel unless necessary. Consider:
Do you really need to travel?
Is it safe to do so and worth the risk?
Are you prepared to pay a fine or towing fees for abandoning a vehicle?
Bruce County remains in a significant weather event and that means use caution when travelling on County roads.
Teams are working hard, but it may take longer than usual to bring road conditions back to a state of repair.
Never drive on closed roads. These resources will help keep you up-to-date on closures, conditions, and forecasts:

Storm preparedness:
If travelling is necessary, preparing yourself and travelling with caution is wise:
- Pack an emergency kit in your vehicle
- Install winter tires, new windshield wipers, and top up washer fluid
- Remove all snow and ice from your vehicle before driving
- Turn your lighting system on completely – automatic running lights do not include your taillights, which makes a vehicle more visible to following traffic
- Reduce speed and leave additional space between vehicles.
Please note the closures of the Bruce County Museum and all branches of the Bruce County Public Library due to weather conditions today, December 30th, 2025.
Finally, this may be the first experience with a Bruce County winter for community members and visitors. Please remember to be kind and patient, whether on the roads or in the comments of social media posts.
