Hanover driver facing multiple impaired-related charges

A Hanover resident is facing multiple impaired‑driving‑related charges after Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint.

On Monday, April 27, 2026, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Grey Bruce OPP received a report of a vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 6 toward Chatsworth. The complainant reported that the vehicle was swerving within its lane.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the interaction, officers detected a strong odour of alcohol, which led to an impaired driving investigation. The driver was subsequently arrested.

A 42-year-old male of Hanover has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol
  • Operation while Impaired – 80 plus
  • Operation while Prohibited
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor (LLCA)

A 90‑day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45‑day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on June 11, 2026.
