The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) concluded its annual Festive RIDE campaign on January 2, 2022, having charged 655 drivers with impaired driving.
Over the 46-day campaign, OPP officers worked 24/7, conducting 8,370 RIDE events across the province. The OPP Festive RIDE Campaign ran from November 18, 2021, to January 2, 2022.
Over and above the charges, officers issued 236 Warn Range suspensions to drivers whose roadside breath test registered 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
The OPP would like to thank citizens for making 3,147 calls to police to report suspected impaired drivers during the annual campaign. The OPP also thanks all those who stepped up as designated drivers or took other measures to ensure family and friends did not get behind the wheel while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) participated fully in the Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Diving Everywhere) campaig with 98 checkpoints set up across the detachment area with the following results:

The Festive R.I.D.E. campaign has ended, but the South Bruce OPP commitment to road safety never ends. Motorists can expect to see officers patrolling area roads and stopping drivers that take chances with your safety all year long.
Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) concluded its annual Festive RIDE campaign on January 2nd and the numbers are quite staggering. 21 drivers were charged with Impaired Operation by Huron County OPP during the campaign. Provincially 655 drivers were charged.
The 21 drivers charged was a huge increase from the six that were charged during the 2020 campaign. A full third (7) of the drivers charged in this year’s campaign were impaired by drugs other than alcohol.
Huron County OPP conducted a total of 230 RIDE events during the campaign versus 183 during the previous campaign.
Both the number of charges laid and the number of RIDE events conducted led all of the 14 detachments in West Region for the OPP.
