Win prizes at the Library this Summer

No matter your age or reading level, Bruce County Public Library has a summer reading challenge for you!

This summer, all reading programs are through the library’s online resource, Beanstack. All reading challenges will run June 27 – August 21, and pre-registration began on Monday, June 15th. To register, download the free Beanstack app, available for Android and iOS or visit to find Beanstack on their Online Resources page. Prizes will be awarded in July and August for all programs. The more you participate, the better your chances of winning! All prizes will be sourced from local Bruce County businesses.

Children ages 3-12 can join the TD Summer Reading Club, which is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests, and all abilities. Contact the library to arrange a time to pick up your fun-filled take-home activity packages (one for July & one for August). You are invited share your creations with the library on social media and use the tag #BCPLSummerReading

Teens 13-17 can join the GOAT Reading Challenge. Join the reading challenge and share your GOAT authors or books and complete activities to earn badges. Visit the library’s YouTube account for some fun “Life Hacks” videos. Can you make a meal in a mug? How about repurpose that clothing item with the hole in it? If you need materials to participate, give the library a call to arrange a time to pick up your package.

Finally, summer reading isn’t just for kids! Grab an old favourite or something new and enter your titles in the “We’re all in This Together” program for adults. Complete the “tongue-in-cheek” activities to earn extra badges to improve your chances of winning a prize.

“Although Summer Reading clubs look different this year, we’ve made it easy to explore great reads and maintain reading skills” says Brooke McLean, Director of Library Services. “Our talented staff have created innovative take-home activities to entertain and inform. Best of all, everything is free with your library card!”
