As high school exam season approaches, Bruce County Public Library (BCPL) is pleased to welcome St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs to several branches to help students relax and prepare for upcoming exams.

Between January 13 and January 27, 2026, St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog teams will visit the Wiarton, Walkerton, Port Elgin, and Kincardine Branches. These friendly and supportive dogs provide comfort and stress relief during what can be a challenging and high-pressure time for teens.
The visiting dogs are part of a therapy dog program, which aims to bring comfort and support to people in schools, libraries, hospitals, and community spaces. Learn more about the therapy dog program at sja.ca.
In addition, during the week of January 26th to the 30th, 2026, BCPL will offer study-friendly hot chocolate bars for teens.
“All of these activities are free, and our way of supporting local teens during a potentially stressful time. Whether it’s spending a few quiet moments with a therapy dog or settling in with a warm drink to study, we want teens to know the library is there for them,” said Library Director, Brooke McLean.
With winter weather bringing more snow days and remote learning, BCPL also encourages students to keep the library in mind as a quiet, warm place to access online classes, with access to free WiFi available at all 17 Branches.
Specific dates and times for therapy dog visits is available online at Library.brucecounty.on.ca.
