A call to police about an erratic driver has led to the arrest and subsequent charges against a Guelph resident.
On Sunday, February 23, 2020 at approximately 8:17 p.m. South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a motor vehicle that was travelling in an erratic manner coming into Walkerton on Bruce Road 19. Officers located the motor vehicle and a traffic stop was completed near Eastridge Road.
Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer observed an open container of alcohol in the middle console. A roadside screening test was later conducted and the driver registered a fail. As a result the driver was arrested and transported to the Walkerton OPP detachment for breath tests.
The driver later provided two samples of his breath to the intoxilizer technician and both of his test results were analyzed to be above the legal limit.
A 30 year old male from Guelph has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus and Driver Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor. He was also served with a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded. The accused has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for March 18, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton

A driver from Teeswater will be without a licence for the next 90 days following her arrest and subsequent charge of Operation with 80 Plus.
On Monday, February 17, 2020 at approximately 1:38 a.m. a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer came across a motor vehicle that was stopped on the shoulder of Concession 8 near Bruce Road 19. The driver was outside of the vehicle momentarily and then entered back into the driver’s seat.
The officer stopped and checked on the driver and while speaking with the occupants of the vehicle the odour of alcohol was detected. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. As a result the driver was arrested and transported to the Walkerton OPP detachment for breath tests.
The driver later provided two samples of her breath to the intoxilizer technician and both of her test results were analyzed to be above the legal limit.
