A comfort bench, donated by the family of Eldon Yundt and overlooking the Saugeen River near the bottom of South Street in Walkerton, has sadly been vandalized and the memorial plaque stolen.
Mr. Yundt, co-founder of the Saugeen River Trail, was Bruce County Engineer between 1955 and 1991 and one of Bruce County’s longest serving employees.
The development of the Saugeen River trail system between 1992 and 1996 is one of his lasting legacies to the town of Walkerton, which he loved.
