Schlatman scores hole-in-one on 18th hole at Whispering Hills Golf Club
What a way to close the busy first week of June at the local 18-hole golf course, between Hanover and Walkerton, with an ace on number 18.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous on Friday, June 3, and just a perfect sunny day to walk the golf course with a friend.
On Friday, long-time club member, Jim Schlatman, (70), was playing golf with his friend and regular playing partner, Dave Mercey, of Hanover.  After they walked 9 holes, they weren’t sure if they wanted to walk another nine holes, walking in the heat, and battle another 9 holes.  Mercey said “sure, let’s keep going”, so they headed to the 10th tee to start the back nine.  Thanks to Dave’s coaching to continue on, and finish the full 18-hole round of golf, Schlatman made the 158-yard shot that he will never forget, on the finishing hole #18, using his Adams Golf Idea #4 hybrid, and his glorious TaylorMade RocketBallz ball.
After Schlatman swung and the ball was in the air, they both thought it looked good, and it could be close.  When they got up to the 18th green, Schlatman’s TaylorMade RocketBallz was nowhere to be found, except sitting down right there at the bottom of the cup.
This is the second hole-in-one of Schlatman’s golf career, with the first one coming back 54 years ago when he was 16, in 1968, when Schlatman was playing hooky, and skipping school, to golf with his friend Cam Lorenz, of Hanover.
