There are times when service absolutely a key.
One of those times took place just before the weekend when my hot-water tank decided it had had enough and decided to pack it in.
Of course, it’s hard to know that when the tank is in the ‘basement’ until you go to take a shower and suddenly the hot water disappears. Investigating we found the basement filled with water. The tank had “let go”.
Now, I do not own my water heater. Instead, I rent it from Reliance. It’s one of those things that I would rather pay each month and have the security of knowing that when something goes wrong, as it did, service is a key.
So, I picked up the phone and called Reliance that same night and the next day, a Saturday, a technician was at my door. He thoroughly went over the cause of the trouble and discovered that the tank, like some of us, had seen better days and it was time for a new one, but one could not be installed until Monday.
So be it … time to recall camping days and make do with cold water. You never know what you have ’till it’s gone and then you appreciate it! Washing your hair under cold water is fun when you’re 10!
Monday arrived and so did the new water heater. The technician was super friendly and fast in his installing the new unit and explained everything thoroughly.

Yes, it might cost a slight monthly fee to rent a major unit like a water heater but, when it comes to replacement or an emergency repair, the cost is worth it … at least it was to me.
