Ontario government supporting East Ridge park expansion in Brockton

Today, the Ontario government announced that it is providing financial support to the municipality of Brockton to help finance the second phase expansion at East Ridge Industrial Business Park in Walkerton.
Through the Infrastructure Ontario (IO) Loan Program, almost $6 million will support the expansion of serviced lots through affordable, long-term financing for this important asset.
“This is an important step that will help open up much needed fully serviced industrial sites,” said Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, who also noted that the demand is high due to a shortage of municipally owned, serviced lots.
“The municipality of Brockton is very appreciative of the ongoing support from the provincial government,” said Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody. “This loan from Infrastructure Ontario will fill the booming demand for industrial land in Brockton. Once again MPP Lisa Thompson has shown her commitment to revitalizing rural Ontario.”
With more than 440 clients, including municipalities and non-profits, IO’s Loan Program has helped finance various types of infrastructure projects such as the construction of roads, bridges, arena complexes and long-term care homes, and the acquisition and installation of capital assets like fire trucks and energy-efficient lighting.
Supporting modern and efficient public infrastructure is critical for building a strong economy, prosperous communities and creating jobs. The provincial government is committed to protecting people’s health and the economy by investing in infrastructure that improves the quality of life for all Ontarians.
