Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby postponed to 2021

The Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby Committee, the organizers of the Annual Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby, have announced that this summer’s derby will be postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

“We have been closely monitoring the continuing developments with the guidance of the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments,” said Derby Chairman Brian Lang. “While we were hoping to proceed as usual, it is now obvious that we would not be able to ensure the health and safety of participants and volunteers. For that and many other reasons, we have decided it is best to put the Chantry Derby on hold.”

The 37th Annual Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby, intended to run July 25th to August 9th, 2020, will now be held from July 24th to August 8th, 2021. The Chantry Derby draws in anglers from across Canada and internationally, with over a thousand attendees every year, which helps to support club operations and conservation efforts.

“We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, volunteers and participants. It is your commitment that makes the derby the fantastic event that it is,” added Chairman Brian Lang. “Please stay safe during these unprecedented times, and we will see you July 2021 for the 37th Chantry Derby.”
