Bruce Power’s Bruce C Project could stand as a cornerstone in Canada’s clean energy future, driving economic growth, creating thousands of high-quality jobs, and reinforcing global leadership in nuclear innovation and medical isotope production.
As highlighted by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, this project is not just vital for Ontario — it’s a strategic investment in Canada’s energy independence, sustainability, and international influence.
The proposed addition of up to 4,800 megawatts (MW) of energy production through the Bruce C Project, currently undergoing a federal Impact Assessment, would make Bruce Power the largest nuclear generator in the world with a capacity of 12,000 MW.
Interim findings from an upcoming Ontario Chamber report, commissioned by Bruce Power and the Nuclear Innovation Institute, estimate the Bruce C Project would bring with it an estimated 20,000 jobs annually during construction. Over the lifetime of the proposed facility, the project is expected to contribute an annual average of approximately 12,000 full-time equivalent jobs across Canada, and approximately 10,000 of those jobs would be in Ontario.
The Bruce C Project would contribute nearly $200 billion to Canada’s Gross Domestic Product over its lifetime, including $172 billion for Ontario, with tens of billions in tax revenue across all governments.
Bruce Power already is Canada’s largest public-private partnership and its Life Extension Program and Major Component Replacement Project is the country’s biggest privately financed electricity infrastructure project in Canada. Bruce Power’s Life-Extension Program and ongoing operations create and sustain 27,000 direct and indirect jobs annually. The proposed Bruce C would build on this strong foundation, creating new opportunities for skilled employment, economic development, and long-term prosperity for communities across Ontario.
With 95 per cent of Bruce Power’s current spend in Canada through a robust and long-standing made-in-Ontario supply chain, the Bruce C Project would build on Bruce Power’s Canadian at our Core campaign, which hinges on commitments to provide safe, reliable power to Ontario and cancer-fighting medical isotopes globally, drive the economy and strengthen partnerships with Indigenous communities.

Stephen Lecce, Ontario Minister of Energy and Mines. “The Bruce C Project will support 50,000 jobs, add $200 billion to the Canadian economy, and expand Ontario’s leadership in life-saving medical isotope production. This is about growing our economy, creating good jobs, and keeping energy affordable for families and future for generations.”
The Bruce C Project and the potential refurbishment of Bruce Power’s Units 1 and 2 would build on the already significant economic contributions of the Bruce Power site ($4-billion in annual economic benefit to the province through operations and Life Extension activities) and contribute to the Province of Ontario’s goal of making Ontario an energy superpower.

The final Bruce C Economic Impact Assessment Report will be released by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce in Q1 2026.
