To continue supporting the outstanding work being done by public health officials and front-line health care workers in Grey, Bruce and Huron counties, Bruce Power announced yesterday that it is sponsoring a series of initiatives to arm residents with the latest information in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
These initiatives, created to assist the area’s public health officials with their 
communications efforts around COVID-19, follow Wednesday’s announcement that Bruce Power will supply 600,000 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) to health-care workers, first responders and other people in need across Ontario. That commitment includes 100,000 pieces of PPE for front-line workers in Grey, Bruce and Huron counties.
After conversations with public health officials in Grey, Bruce and Huron, Bruce Power will sponsor the following communications programs:
- A mailing with urgent guidance and information from public health officials will be sent to every household in the three counties. The approximately 100,000 information newsletters will be mailed in the coming days.
- Beginning April 2nd, a 30-second message with instructions on protecting yourself against COVID-19 will be sent to phones across the three counties using ROBO Call technology.
- Bruce Power will host its second Virtual Town Hall with public health officials from Grey Bruce on Tuesday, Apr. 7. Residents in Huron County will hear from their public health officials in a Virtual Town Hall on Thursday, Apr. 9.
- The first of weekly sessions took place yesterday at 5 p.m. with Dr. Ian Arra, Chief Medical Officer of the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
“One of the greatest challenges our public health officials have identified in conversations with Bruce Power is the urgent need to make sure the residents of their communities have the latest and correct information for keeping themselves and their loved ones safe,” said James Scongack, Executive Vice-President, Corporate Affairs and Operational Services. “We offered to help them address that need by making sure that information is accessible to people of all ages and on all platforms.”
