Bruce County Warden Mitch Twolan has officially declared a state of emergency in response to COVID-19.
“The decision to declare a state of emergency is not taken lightly,” says Twolan. “Bruce County is being proactive in our fight against COVID-19 to protect the health and safety of individuals, families.”
Declarations of emergency are made under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act when an emergency requires immediate action to prevent, reduce or mitigate a danger of major proportions.
Twolan adds: “Bruce County will now have additional tools and resources to coordinate and mobilize quickly. We will also have the flexibility to re-deploy staff, if required. I want to emphasize that this is a precautionary step at the time. None of these actions are necessary now.”
