Trapped fishermen rescued – a first-hand account

Trapped on the ice of Georgian Bay with 22 other fishermen, Kevin Fox of Fox Fishing gives a first-hand account.
“When the first helicopter arrived, they didn’t hesitate for a second. They went straight to the guys in the water. Watching those rescue crews work was incredible. Calm, fast, and completely focused.  In a situation where seconds matter, they moved with total professionalism.  One by one they got those guys out of the water and to safety.
Seeing that helicopter arrive gave everyone on that drifting ice sheet a huge sense of relief. It meant help was here. It meant there was a plan. And most importantly…
It meant we had a chance.”
