Two early morning incidents result in several charges laid

BREAK AND ENTER:  Suspect Located and Arrested

The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter in progress on Saugeen First Nation.

On November 19, 2023, at 9:06 a.m., the OPP responded to a break and enter in progress on Bruce Road 13, Saugeen First Nation. Officers were in the area and arrived at the residence within two minutes of receiving the call for service.

As a result, a 29-year-old individual from Saugeen First Nation has been charged with:

  • Mischief
  • Break and enter X2
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Possession of break in instruments
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was held in custody for the purpose of attending a bail hearing.

Suspicious person leads to multiple charges

The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious person at a business on Highway 6 in Georgian Bluffs.

On November 20, 2023, at 6:24 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a complaint of a suspicious person at a business on Highway 6 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. It was reported that there was a disturbance at a business that witnesses heard yelling, screaming and glass breaking. The Grey Bruce OPP then received another report that a vehicle had crashed into a ditch and a dump trailer was sitting across a live lane of traffic.

As a result, a 21-year-old individual from Neyaashiinigmiing has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Mischief over $5000
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Dangerous operation
  • Failure to comply with probation order X2

The accused was held in custody for the purpose of attending a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
