Only five performances left of hilarious whodunit comedy

When it comes to comedic timing, the cast of ’39 Steps’ has it in spades.

Produced and directed by the Bruce County Playhouse and now playing at Southampton Town Hall, this two-time Tony® and Drama Desk Award-winning play is hilarious, and the four actors playing over 150 characters are consummate performers who bounce off each other’s lines without a pause.

It all begins when a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she’s a spy and, when he takes her home, she’s mysteriously murdered.  The man is soon the focus of ‘the 39 steps’, an organization that sets out to track him down in a nation-wide manhunt.

While it sounds like the proverbial Hitchcock thriller, it is, but with side-splitting comedy thrown into the mix.

With “wildly inventive” staging that includes an on-stage plane crash to a train ride (that is riotously funny) and some good old-fashioned romance, the ’39 steps’ should not be missed.
