In late October (2025), Bruce Power released interim findings from an upcoming independent report by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, which outlines the significant economic opportunities associated with the proposed Bruce C project.

The project would bring with it approximately 20,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and an annual average of 12,000 full-time equivalent jobs annually across Canada over the lifetime of the proposed facility, including approximately 10,370 annually in Ontario.

The Bruce C project would contribute nearly $200 billion to Canada’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over its lifetime, including $172 billion for Ontario, along with tens of billions in tax revenue across all levels of governments.

If approved, the proposed addition of up to 4,800 megawatts (MW) of new energy production—currently undergoing a federal Impact Assessment—would make Bruce Power the largest nuclear generator in the world, with a capacity of 12,000 MW.

The interim report examines the potential economic impact of the proposed Bruce C project during its design, construction and operation phases. Findings are based on an economic impact assessment, which demonstrates how project spending circulates through the economy, highlighting both the direct effects and the broader benefits from supply chain and procurement activities over its expected 80-year lifespan

“Bruce Power is committed to working hand-in-hand with local residents, Indigenous partners and municipalities to ensure the benefits of this project are felt where it matters most—right here at home,” said Jessica Linthorne, President and CEO of the Nuclear Innovation Institute, which contributed to the report. “From new jobs to local investments, the proposed Bruce C project would help the Clean Energy Frontier region of Bruce, Grey and Huron counties thrive for generations.”

The final Bruce C economic impact assessment report will be released by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce in early 2026.

“Being home to the largest nuclear generator in the world is something that would be worth celebrating. Electricity from Bruce Power has been powering the Ontario Economy and will continue to power the future of Canadian innovation,” said Ben Lobb, MP for Huron-Bruce

“The Bruce C Project marks a pivotal moment in Canada’s clean energy future. By expanding nuclear capacity right here in Bruce County, we’re not only advancing energy security but also fueling innovation, job creation, and long-term prosperity across Ontario and beyond,” added Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce and Minister of Rural Affairs.

“As a community, we are proud to host Bruce Power and to support the continued growth of Ontario’s clean energy future through the proposed Bruce C Project,” said Kenneth Craig, Mayor of the Municipality of Kincardine.  “We look forward to working with industry partners and all levels of government to ensure this project is a success—not only for the Municipality of Kincardine and the surrounding region, but for the Province and the Country as a whole, ”

The Mayor of Saugueen Shores and Warden of Bruce County, Luke Charbonneau, said that, “The proposed Bruce C project is a generational opportunity that will benefit our children and our grandchildren well into the 22nd century. It’s an opportunity that would mean new customers for our local businesses, new volunteers for our service clubs, and new potential for young people to put down roots in our communities.”
