A sad ending to a Canadian Icon

To the Editor:

This is a sad ending to the Hudson’s Bay heritage that we all in Canada have.
The Canadian Icon of Hudson’s Bay trading posts and stores established since 1670 was in Southampton since 1826 – some 200 years ago.
I am heartened to see that the new Prime Minister Mark Carney will soon be in Iqaluit.  Being born in Fort Smith (NWT), it appears that he is determined to build strength and security in our northern communities that were part of the great Hudson’s Bay heritage that we all have.
